the moorings hotel & restaurant was a huge letdown. my room only had an overhead shower—really? ! expected an upgrade for the price paid, but they’ve clearly forgotten who pays their bills. breakfast was painfully slow, and charged for items that should’ve been complimentary. i wanted to enjoy my stay, but just couldn't. very disappoining indeed.

The location is unbeatable, with stunning views over the harbour and Mont Orgueil Castle right behind you. My single room came well-equipped with a cooler of fresh milk for my tea and a neat little negroni as a welcome treat—nice touch.
I found the only overhead shower in my room a letdown. a handheld option would have made my shower experience much better. The dining experience for breakfast was slow, and despite being light, I was charged for items that seemed included with my stay, which felt off for a place with these prices.

We appreciated the stunning views over the harbour and the proximity to the castle. The breakfast options were impressive, and the staff were genuinely friendly, making us feel at home.
One downside was that our bathroom lacked a handheld shower option, which would have enhanced our experience.

beautiful location but some odours
The location was breathtaking, with views of the sea that were simply stunning. The decor throughout the hotel felt modern and stylish, welcoming as soon as you walked in. Dining at the restaurant was a delight, with both breakfast and dinner showcasing exquisite flavors from fresh ingredients. The highlight for me was the lovely resident dog, adding a homely touch to the atmosphere.
There was an occasional unpleasant smell from the wrack in the harbour that detracted from the experience.

Fantastic family vibes!
The staff were super nice, feeling like family. The food was a standout, especially the dinners. The only bummer was that the shower could be a bit better. Beach towels were a cool extra perk too!

It was a fitting option for a holiday in Gorey with good value considering the price it charged. The highlight was the amazing Huevos rancheros for breakfast that really made my stay enjoyable. Make sure to explore nearby restaurants for lunch or dinner.
